Handmade birthday card in 10 minutes
Are you planning to go to a birthday party any time soon? I’m convinced that there is no better gift than one made with love and effort. I believe the charm lies in imperfections. And that applies to a lot of things, but especially to handmade ones.
When your friends have something to celebrate- do you buy a card for them?
If yes, than I suggest next time you think of getting a card- get a pair of scissors, paper and coloured pens (markers) instead! And you know why?
Because it’s fun, it’s simple to make and it’s super creative- I promise, it will be the most productive 20 minutes- full of laughter, jokes and sarcasm (yes, even if you do it all alone)! And in the end you’ll get a finished, meaningful and unique birthday card your friend/spouse/parents/etc would love. The time spent in the process of making- is definitely a time well spent. Making something simple like birthday card keeps you focused and it boosts your creativity in wider sense.
Two of my dearest friends have birthdays in February. Both of them are the same age (just one year difference). It’s funny how one is slightly paranoid about her age, and the other one embraces it! I made birthday cards for both of them, it’s pretty obvious which one is which, ha! BTW, they both loved it!
The tools you need:
PVA glue or glue stick
Image printed out
Scissors
Alphabetical stamps
Alphabet template
Markers- various colours
Blank card and envelope
Preparation time: 10 min
Making time: 10 min
I decided to stick with the simple aesthetics- keep the image black and white and add some colourful lettering. The initial image I collaged in Photoshop- turned it to black and white and added some funny details (like sunglasses or big eyes-see below) and then printed it out.
And yes, handmade card would be appropriate with ANY gift, even (and especially!) if you’re not planning getting gifts and just want to say thank you or wish well to somebody!
