The Photo Diary // June 2016

First and foremost,

10 YEARS IN LDN  !!!

This is my personal anniversary. Hard to believe that from the moment I arrived in London to live and study, the whole decade has gone by. I can't say it was easy, coming from a small town Daugavpils in a small country Latvia to London has been challenging. But I think I managed quite a lot during those years. I've graduated with BA Interior Architecture and MA Urban Design, I continue to pursue my passion in my career and hobby. I've traveled to amazing destinations and cities, have met many inspiring people on my way. I've also met the love of my life and I consider this decade has been a productive and full of amazing opportunities that appeared on my way, and I'm very grateful for it. Cheers to that!

SEVEN SISTERS COUNTRY PARK

It's embarrassing to admit but in ten years this is my first visit to the Seven Sisters Country Park. It is made up of 280 hectares of chalk cliffs, meandering river valley and open chalk grassland. It is a popular place for a number of outdoor activities including walking, birdwatching, cycling and canoeing. Absolutely breathtaking landscapes and heights. The dramatic scenery overwhelms together with the wind.

TATE MODERN EXTENSION

I've been looking forward to this one for a looong time. On 17th June the Tate Modern extension by Herzog & De Meuron  has opened its doors to visitors. From The Tanks on Level 0 you can go all the way up to Level 10 and enjoy the spectacular new roof terrace with 360-degree views of the river Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral and the dramatic London skyline.

 PECHA KUCHA NIGHT

For the first time, I was  p r e s e n t i n g  my 35mm film photography work. I talked about the process from beginning to the end- bulk loading the film rolls, developing the concept of the photo shoot, going through the actual shooting on a site, developing film negatives and scanning. I LOVE getting myself immersed in this process and only by shooting film I get my creative juice flowing at full speed.

FLOWERS

And, of course-  flowers! June is that time of the year when all kinds of rose bushes start to blossom and continue throughout the summer. Every time when I spot one I stop to smell the flower. Some of them have very strong and beautiful aroma! Not to forget the dramatic skies and heavy, dramatic rainy days! :)
